Following on our successful implementation of these programs in 2016, ITD will administer Environmental Sustainability Professional Fellowship Programs with Mexico, Peru and Uruguay in the Spring and Fall of 2017. The Professional Fellows Program brings emerging leaders from around the world to the United States for intensive fellowships designed to broaden their professional expertise. ITD is one of fourteen U.S.-based non-profit organizations and universities chosen to host foreign professionals from countries and territories worldwide. ITD's program will bring 30 young environmental professionals to Massachusetts andsend ten American counterparts to Latin America. The Massachusetts component of the exchange will take place in the Spring and Fall of 2017. Selected participants will include NGO leaders, government officials, community leaders, educators and environmental experts. The program will focus on multi-stakeholder approaches to environmental sustainability. Participants will complete three-week fellowships with public and private host organizations throughout Western Massachusetts. By working within organizations and alongside their U.S. counterparts, the visiting environmental professionals will gain an in-depth look at the different stakeholders and how they relate to each other. The visiting fellows will prepare action plans for implementation in their own countries.
The U.S. counterparts from the host organizations will then travel to Mexico, Peru and/or Uruguay in the winter/spring of 2017 for exchanges.
