I love education more, and have more motivation and understanding about how to nurture children.
Indonesia Civic Education participant

As the world responds to the spread of COVID-19, at ITD we're trying to do our part. ITD staff will be working remotely to ensure the health and safety of our employees and contribute toward the well-being of our community. If you need to reach any of the staff, please do so through email. You can find our email addresses here.

What We Do
At ITD we set the scene for profound inter-cultural experiences. Our work brings together professionals and/or students from around the world to share cultures, exchange ideas, deepen understanding, and spread knowledge. The programs we offer include a wide range of topics: from developing civic education curricula to exploring minority integration in the West, from promoting indigenous visual arts to studying US culture and democracy. With their new-found knowledge and their experience of dynamic engagement, our participants return to their countries enriched by their exchange, and re-charged by new and challenging ideas. In their own words it is "an experience of a lifetime."

Professional Fellows from Morocco

ITD warmly welcomes nine Moroccan professionals who are participating in the U.S. State Department (Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs) Professional Fellows Program from April 23- May 31. The Fellows spent their first week in Amherst before beginning their four-week long professional exchanges with host organizations which include the Treehouse Foundation, Stavros, Citizens for Juvenile Justice, The Southeast Asian Coalition of Central Massachusetts, Leadership Pioneer Valley, the Farmer Services Agency, and D.C.-based organizations such as the Truman Center for National Security, National Democratic Institute and the office of Congressman Jim McGovern. In their final week of their Fellowship participants will join over 250 other Fellows in Washington D.C. for a 3-day conference aimed to enhance their leadership skills. The focus of ITD's program is civic engagement. Upon their return to Morocco, Fellows will apply in their professional contexts what they have learned , and aim to further foster civic engagement participation in their communities.
